ALS is something that is happening more and more everyday so to see everyone doing this ALS challenge warms my heart. If you would of asked me almost five years ago if I knew what ALS was I would have looked at you puzzled. But then my grandpa was diagnosed with it. I suddenly knew about a disease I never wanted to hear about. Basically motor neurons begin failing and it slowly begins paralyzing you. You lose the ability to walk, talk, eat, and breathe. It usually gives you 2-5 years to live after being diagnosed.
Tonight some students At Emporia State University did the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge. I made a point to hug everyone that did it if I knew them or not. ALS has personally been involved in my family's life. So to see people spreading the word about it made me feel so much appreciation. But for random people on my campus to hug me again after I told them how it has involved my family just makes me realize how wonderful Emporia State and it's people really are. #ALSFOUNDATION #ICEBUCKETCHALLENGE#EMPORIASTATEUNIVERSITY #STINGERSUP

These were a few of my thoughts on my way to and home from work tonight.
Thought Number 1:
DO NOT LEAVE YOUR KIDS IN THE CAR. I did a little experiment tonight. I tried driving to work with out my windows rolled down. I have absolutely no air conditioning in my car. NONE at all. I couldn't even make it to work with them up. I live ten minutes away from where I work. TEN WHOLE MINUTES. I honestly could not even make it a block. IT is just too hot. It's in the 90's but with windows up and the sun beating down on your car it's honestly hotter than that. And if i can not handle ten minutes. Me a grown 20 year old woman can not handle it. How can a child. A two year old. A baby. So please do not leave them in the hot car. Unbuckle them, take them in with you. Do not leave them in the car for even a second to run in somewhere. Even if the air is running just do not do it. Take the kids inside. Too many kids are dying from being left in hot cars. Please save a life.
Thought Number 2:
If you are going to walk your dog in the street due to not having a sidewalk. Please walk with them being next to the curb. Protect your beloved pets. Protect them from cars. A person is a lot more likely to see you than a dog. Just protect your dog.
Thought Number 3:
If you are going to walk at night. Please wear something other than black. Even if you are under the brightest street lights please wear a color that can be seen. Anything than black.
